Wat up wat up.
I’m still on the job laying this zine out for print for the Zine Fair in Scotland. But here is something to think about this week :
Currently, real sea pirates are committing acts of piracy, not copying music or movies, really taking hostages and looting transpo barges –which happens to be the dictionary definition of this term*. So I was thinking it might be an idea to produce more goods locally to lesson our dependence on, and significantly avoid these high level dangerous situations for this over-seas shipping industry. Maybe scale back the amount of goods we ship and import. Do we really need to be shipping all the stuff in the world all over the world and back just to keep realizing profits ?
Fact : “Over 90% of world trade is carried out by sea” –from Save Our Seafarers
* PIRACY : Robbery on the high seas; the taking of
property from others on the open sea by open violence;
without lawful authority, and with intent to steal; — a
crime answering to robbery on land.
[Webster]
